Mathematics is not as scary or difficult as it sounds. For many people, this is the subject they absolutely fear. It is widely used in other subjects such as physics and chemistry. The great thing about mathematics is that once you master its tricks, it can become your highest-scoring subject. This is not impossible, in fact, it is easier than it seems.

Here are some tips for solving math problems like an expert!

1. Practice as much as you can.

Mathematics is a manual subject. You can't just "learn" the chapters, you have to understand the concepts and then keep practicing. It is best to start practicing from day one. This way, you will get good practice when the exam comes around. When studying heavy subjects, you can do some math exercises so you don't feel overwhelmed.

2. Solve problems/examples.

Don't start by solving complex problems. If you have just understood this chapter, solving difficult problems will give you wrong answers and discourage you. It might even make you hate math even more. Instead, start out simple. Solve examples in textbooks. Make sure you haven't checked the answers beforehand. After you figure it out, compare it with the solution in the textbook or reference book you are using. See if all your steps are correct, not just the main answer. Once you have completed all the correct steps, you can solve the simplest problem. Once you master them, you can turn to more difficult ones.

3. Remove all your doubts

It is easy have some doubts about mathematics. Don't let your doubts accumulate, remove them as soon as they appear. The sooner you resolve your doubts, the faster you will improve at Maths. Ask your classroom teacher, friends or online on our skulchat app.

4. Write down all formulas.

When you see something enough, it will be recorded in your memory, even if it's unconscious. This is why some people like to paste diagrams or formulas on their desks or bedrooms. Make cards with all the formulas in the textbook and decorate your room with them, at least until the end of the exam!

5. Don't forget the basics.

Your foundation in mathematics is the basics. Even if you are studying for Form E/Grade 12, you should have a solid foundation in grade 8-10 mathematics. Most math topics build on previous chapters. If your foundation is not as strong as you hoped, please go back and practice the chapter additions selected from previous years. Always know your basics.
